River Region Jabberwockies!
Have you ever wanted to write a novel? A lot of us have, and that's what this website is all about.
Every November, an event called National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is held. The purpose is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. That's it. It doesn't have to be a GOOD novel, just a novel. We do this because many of us start to write, then get involved in "perfecting" each and every word and paragraph that we write. The result is that we get discouraged and bogged down, and never finish the story. By not stopping to edit and just pushing through, we at least finish the story. Editing is what December is for!
But it's not November anymore, and NaNoWriMo 2011 is over. That's what this site is all about. We want to make sure you keep writing and editing the whole year through, not just in November. We will have blog posts talking about the site, about upcoming events, even about submission opportunities that might lead to YOU getting paid for writing. And isn't that what we all secretly want?
And when November rolls back around, you'll be able to monitor everybody's progress for NaNoWriMo 2012 using this site! We'll host events to help us write, and be here to help you through any issues you might have with getting finished. Check out our forums and our blog, but check back periodically, as we also plan to post stuff on the craft and art of writing.
So stick around, open up a word document, and let's get writing!
NaNoWriMo is sponsored by The Office of Letters and Light ( http://www.lettersandlight.org/ ). The Office of Letters and Light (OLL) is a Non-Profit organization.
